As far as BSO (bike shaped objects) go, the Glacier Point is not a bad deal for somebody who just needs a bike. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/bike/1905058113/" rel="nofollow">This Diamondback</a> started out as a somewhat better bike than any Magna, but the owner has competed in triathlons on that bike. I guarantee you, there are people riding in these events on all manner of bikes. I've seen Walmart-grade MTBs with clip-on aero bars. I've seen old sit-up-and-beg English roadsters. I've seen beach cruisers. It's no surprise that this guy is selling it after his first triathlon. I’ve done my share of triathlons, one-day charity rides, and that sort of thing.
