Frequently Asked Questions...
Could someone please help me out with this question involving rotational kinematics?
Suppose you are riding a stationary exercise bicycle, and the electronic meter indicates that the wheel is rotating at 14.1 rad/s. The wheel has a radius of 0.526 m. If you ride the bike for 36.4 min, how far would you have gone if the bike could move?
Answer:
Strange meter. Anyway,
14.1 rad/s = 14.1/(2pi) = 2.24 rev/sec
2.24*60 = 134 rev/min
circumference of wheel = 0.526 *2pi = 3.305 m
3.305 m/rev * 134 rev/min * 36.4 min = 16120 m
