Review Of The Kona Dew City Hybrid Bike

The Kona Dew City is the most competitively-priced model in the Dew range of bikes from Kona. Kona is well known for style, and this range of street hybrid bikes have that in abundance.

The Dew City is primarily aimed at the street bike market. There's great demand for bikes that will take you to work and also out and about for fun at the weekend. Most users of hybrid bikes want a bike that is comfortable and easy to use. The bike should ride easily on the road, but be able to take to grass and gravel when needed. The Kona Dew City appears to deliver on all these fronts.

It’s built around a Kona 7005 Aluminium frame. The sloping top tube has two advantages - a safe standover clearance and it makes the model unisex. The smart black paintwork with refined graphics looks great.

The front fork is a rigid aluminium Project 2 fork from Kona . The 700 mm wheels will make it easy to cover the miles on the road, which is what the bike will be asked to do most of the time. This is a hybrid bike after all, not a mountain bike. The rigid aluminium fork is both lightweight and simple.

The frame and fork have eyelets to allow you to fit mudguards. Most will find these essential on a day-to-day bike.

The triple chainset gives maximum flexibility on hills and for road speed.

Other features include:-

  • 21 gears, Shimano components including EZFire shifters. Changing gear is just a matter of clicking up or down with thumb and forefinger.
  • Tektro V-brakes. Powerful and simple to maintain.
  • Flat pedals, wide tyres and a Comfort saddle mean that this is a sensible and comfortable bike to use. The tyres are wide enough at 35mm to soak up most vibration, but still have low rolling resistance for the road. You can always upgrade the pedals if you need cleats, but flat pedals will suit most people.
  • Extremely well priced.

The Kona Dew City is a package of sound, basic components, priced at a level that almost everyone will find appealing.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Which bike is better, Schwinn Circuit XST 700C Hybrid Bike or CCM Presto 700c Road Bike?

I really like the handlebars on road bikes, thats why I'm considering the CCM Presto 700c. The Schwinn has better reviews, but it's a hybrid. Their both $350.00. Which one would be better?

Answer:

Neither. See a REAL bicycle shop if you want a REAL bicycle.
